Beijing witnesses the highest tourism population of all times due to the Great Wall of China. It’s the scenic beauty, the magnificent history and the stones itself that attract tourists all around the year. Even though the Great Wall can be visited anytime, the best time to visit is from November through March for less rain, comfortable temperatures, and beautiful sunrise and sunset.

1. Spring- March to May
The weather is fresh and a cusp of cool and warm breeze can be felt. The weather in Beijing is wonderful during the spring-time; a lot can be discovered during the spring season. For hiking, March is a bit chilly season for extremely low temperature and absolute windy days. While April- May is a wonderful time to do the hiking. There can be occasional dust storms in the city, hence that need to be checked upon.
The plants turn all lush green on the Great Wall and the flowers bloom making everything look colourful and absolutely fresh. The mountains can be a bit cool so it is better to pack warm jackets.
The first week of May should be avoided as that is regarded as China’s Golden travel week, where the tourism is at the maximum.
2. Summer- June to August
Summers in Beijing include the scorching sun on the head with no breeze at all. The summers are a bit harsh on Beijing, for its high temperature yet this is the time when it witnesses maximum tourism. The Great Wall is still cooler since it is in the mountains but there can be occasional rains that hamper the hiking experience. One should be bewaring of the thunderstorms.
The Great Wall looks fresh and everything is clear under the sunlight. The sunlight can be too strong for photography in some stretches of the wall.
Summer-time is the peak season where China hosts maximum tourists. This means that everything is inflated to 10X, from transport to accommodation, nothing is cheap here.
3. Autumn- September to November
The Fall season is the best season to go for a hiking. The weather is comfortable with a cool breeze and offers a great chance to explore the wall due to less of the sun. During this, the mountains are covered with deep red and golden and yellow making it a mesmerizing view. The first week of October should be avoided since it is the national holiday in the country. Over-crowding, traffic jams, and high prices can be experienced.
The Time around New Year’s is equally crowded and one will not enjoy the hiking. It is best to visit the wonderful wonder of the world from November- March since the rainfalls are minimum and the temperature is cool and wonderful.
